About É T É

É T É began its journey as a love for the espadrille, a shoe very common in summer in Europe, but scarcely seen in the east or across Asia. A shoe so versatile, yet so simple made from natural components and hard crafted to perfection. É T É shoes are green, in every aspect. Natural materials, all one hundred percent biodegradable, made with natural dyes and chemically untreated.

The word espadrille is French meaning a type of shoe made from esparto, a grass used to make rope. Made as early as 4000 years ago and more recently (well 700 years ago) in the 14th century as peasant foot ware in Catalonia and the Basque Country.

The word É T É is French, meaning summer and we are.....the summer shoe.
